Terms & Policies

Everything here is written plainly, because you should be able to understand what you’re

agreeing to without a solicitor.

Inner Island is a one-woman workshop. Every piece is made by hand, to order, in Co.

Kilkenny. That shapes a few of the terms below — particularly around timings and

returns — so they’re worth a read before you buy.

Who you’re buying from

See our contact details

These terms apply to every order placed through innerisland.ie. Placing an order means

you accept them.

Prices

All prices are shown in euro and include Irish VAT at the applicable rate.

Delivery is charged separately and shown at checkout before you pay.

Prices for gold pieces move with the metal market. If a price changes between the day

you view a piece and the day you order, the price shown at checkout is the one that

applies.

Placing an order

When you place an order you’ll get an automatic email confirming it’s been received.

That email is an acknowledgement, not an acceptance.

Your order is accepted when I email to confirm I’m beginning work on it, or when the

piece is dispatched — whichever comes first. That’s the point a contract exists between

us.

Occasionally I may not be able to accept an order — a stone is no longer available, a

piece has sold, or there’s a pricing error on the site. If that happens I’ll contact you and

refund you in full.

Payment

Payment is taken in full at checkout. Orders aren’t begun until payment has cleared.

Making and dispatch

Most pieces are made to order rather than taken from a shelf. Current making times are:

Ready-to-post pieces: dispatched within 6 working days

Made to order: 3 to 8 weeks before dispatch

Bespoke and personalised work: agreed with you directly at the time of ordering

If something is going to take longer than quoted — a supplier delay, a stone that isn’t

right — I’ll email you rather than let the date pass quietly.

Delivery

Ireland — An Post, 1 to 3 working days, €10. Free on orders over €60. United

Kingdom — Royal Mail, 3 to 7 days, €15. Rest of world — , 5 to 12

working days, €15 to €25.

All orders are sent tracked and insured, and require a signature.

Delivery times run from dispatch, not from when you order. Add the making time above.

Customs and import charges: orders to the UK and outside the EU may attract import

duty, VAT or handling fees on arrival. These are set by the destination country, aren’t

included in what you pay me, and are the recipient’s responsibility.

Addresses: please check the delivery address before you complete checkout. Once a

parcel has been dispatched I can’t redirect it.

If a parcel doesn’t arrive: contact me and I’ll open a trace with the carrier. Carriers

won’t declare a tracked parcel lost until it’s been missing for a set period — usually 10

working days domestically and 18 internationally — so please bear with the process.

Once it’s declared lost I’ll replace the piece or refund you.

Changing your mind

If you’re shopping from within the EU, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of

receiving your order, without giving a reason. I extend this to 30 days for everyone,

wherever you are.

To cancel, email me at info@innerisland.ie within 30 days of the piece arriving. You then have

14 days from telling me to send it back.

Condition: pieces need to come back unworn and in their original packaging, in a

condition I could sell them in. Try a ring on, certainly. Wear it for a fortnight and it isn’t a

return.

Return postage: you pay to send it back, and I’d strongly recommend a tracked,

insured service. Until it reaches me, it’s your responsibility. If a piece arrives back

damaged or lost in transit uninsured, I can’t refund it.

Refunds: issued to your original payment method within 14 days of the piece reaching

me. I refund the price of the piece and standard outbound delivery. If you chose an

upgraded delivery service, I refund the standard rate.

What can’t be returned

Under EU consumer law, the right to cancel doesn’t apply to goods made to your

specification or clearly personalised. For Inner Island, that means:

Bespoke and commissioned pieces

Engraved pieces

Rings made to a non-standard size

Pieces altered at your request

This doesn’t affect your rights if something arrives faulty. See below.

Earrings for pierced ears can’t be returned on hygiene grounds once the seal is broken,

unless faulty.

If something is wrong with your piece

Your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 stand regardless of anything on

this page. In short: what you receive should match its description, be of satisfactory

quality, and be fit for purpose.

If a piece arrives faulty or not as described, email me with a photograph within a

reasonable time of noticing. I’ll cover return postage.

Depending on when you contact me and what’s wrong, that means a refund, a repair or a

replacement — and I’ll talk you through which applies rather than deciding it at you.

What isn’t a fault: normal wear. Silver tarnishes. Gold vermeil wears thin at points of

friction over time, particularly on rings. Chains can catch and snap if pulled. Stones can

loosen if a piece is knocked. None of these are defects — they’re what happens to

jewellery that gets worn, and most of them I can put right.

Repairs, resizing and aftercare

I repair my own work, and I’d always rather mend a piece than see it retired.

Within 6 months of purchase: manufacturing faults repaired free of charge.

After that, and for accidental damage: repaired at cost. I’ll quote before doing

anything.

Resizing: first resize free within 3 months of purchase on standard rings. Not

possible on every design — ask before you order if you’re unsure of size.

Send nothing back without emailing first, so I know it’s coming.

Ring sizing

Ring size is the single most common reason a piece doesn’t work out. There’s a full

sizing guide at innerisland.ie/sizes, and I’d genuinely rather you emailed me a question

than guessed.

Made-to-size rings can’t be returned for a change of mind, so it’s worth getting right

first time.

Gift cards

Gift cards are valid for 5 years from purchase, can be

used across the full range, aren’t exchangeable for cash, and can be replaced if lost.

Photographs and colour

Every piece is photographed as accurately as I can manage, but screens vary and

precious metals are difficult to render truthfully. Small variations in tone, finish and

stone colour are part of handmade work rather than a flaw in it.

If you’re unhappy

Email me first. Most things are sorted in a message or two, and I’d rather hear from you

than not.

If we can’t resolve it between us, you can contact the Competition and Consumer

Protection Commission (ccpc.ie), or the European Consumer Centre Ireland

(eccireland.ie) for cross-border purchases within the EU.

The formal bits

These terms are governed by Irish law, and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction. If

you’re a consumer resident in another EU country, you keep the protection of your own

country’s consumer law.

Nothing here limits my liability for death, personal injury, or fraud.

I may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published

when you placed it.
